Create a Song Competition

You can compose!

Open to all primary school children aged 5-11 years, Voices for Life ran a competition to find a young person to help write our new song, following the theme of shining a light on children’s uniqueness.

Inspired by the words of children, professional lyricist Sue Curtis (Stardust) wrote lyrics (words) to which entrants composed a short melody (tune).

The judges picked two winners – Phoebe and Ender – who spent the day with professional composer Jools Scott to turn their melody into a full song.  Their songs were performed by a children’s choir in Bath Abbey on 29th and 30th June 2023!

Once more, thank you so much for such an amazing experience, support and care you have given Ender during his time with the Voices for Life crew!

This was a lifetime opportunity for him to meet such talented professionals and children who are truly inspirational.  The whole event was carefully designed and beautifully crafted which we both have witnessed at least some part of it. What an amazing team of people!

All children have innate musical creative gifts which just need some encouragement to emerge and to flower. The Voices for Life ‘Create a Song Competition” is just the right kind of thing that is needed. I support it wholeheartedly.
