Latest figures reveal devastating effect of coronavirus on children’s mental health

We cannot underestimate the huge impact lockdown and coronavirus are having on primary school children.  No matter who they are or where they live, sudden changes in routine and experiences of isolation and illness have impacted every child in different ways, potentially affecting their ability to cope with everyday life and learning.

We already know that 1 in 6 children and young people have a mental disorder, as revealed in the latest NHS Digital report.  Now, according to an Evening Standard investigation, it has been recorded that half a million more children are now suffering problems and there are hundreds and thousands of children and adolescents who had no diagnosable mental health problem before Covid-19 but will now need support as a consequence of the pandemic.

At Voices for Life, the emotional wellbeing of children is of prime importance.  We support the positive mental health and wellbeing in children through our integrated confidence coaching and singing programmes and aim to support as many children as we can through this pandemic and beyond.

We are passionate about enriching the lives of children through the power of music and helping them grow into confident and happy young people.
