Hear how Voices for Life are going to help inspire children to be happy and confident through music!
We are extremely excited to announce the forthcoming launch of our charity, Voices for Life, during
Children’s Mental Health Week at the beginning of February.
Voices for Life has been formed in response to the mental health needs of primary school children to
inspire children to be happy and confident through the provision of high-quality specialised singing
and confidence coaching programmes for primary school children.
Evidence shows that mental health issues are rising and wellbeing deteriorating in children and
young people. The good news is that all children, no matter who they are or where they live, have
the ability to respond to music positively, helping improve children’s mental health and wellbeing.
Voices for Life will provide support to help build self-esteem, emotional wellbeing, and confidence
and enable children to continue developing healthily in all aspects of their lives.
Children’s Confidence Coach, Tessa Armstrong, says, ‘We are so excited about launching our new
charity, Voices for Life. Setting up a charity during a pandemic has definitely had its challenges but
we are now ready to go with some exciting singing and wellbeing projects. These projects will be
needed more than ever once restrictions start to ease.”
During the launch, Voices for Life will also be announcing their main project, a post-lockdown Singing
and Wellbeing Oratorio project. This project will provide children with the opportunity of singing in
a choir and learning and performing a newly commissioned Voices for Life oratorio which will take
children on a journey through space to express the feelings and thoughts they have experienced
during lockdown and beyond.
Shean Bowers, Musical Director, says “This is such a fantastic project and will involve so many
children. I believe that a love of music is one of the greatest gifts we can give children. Our current
focus is on singing, the most accessible way of making music. There are so many benefits of singing
together including building confidence and self-esteem as well as having fun! We are also planning
smaller programmes to meet demand.”
Voices for Life will be launching the charity through an online video which has been prepared during
the current lockdown. This video will feature singing from a newly created children’s choir especially
created for the launch, all individually recorded from the children’s home. Watch this space!
