Our Trustees

The trustees volunteer their time to lead and support Voices for Life.  They are passionate about inspiring children to be happy and confident through music and bring a range of skills and experience to help lead our charity.

Peter Martin (Chair)

Peter Martin, now retired, was a management consultant during his working life and travelled incessantly through the UK and to the Middle East and Europe. His travels made him too unreliable to make binding commitments in the voluntary sector, but since his retirement he has been Chairman of U3A in Bath, Bath Choral Society and is a local Parish Councillor. This is his first appointment to an organisation involved with wellbeing.

Peter is married with two children and grandchildren, spends much of lock down reading, assisting his wife with gardening and trying to get in a daily walk. He has Masters degrees from LSE and Bristol University.

Nicola Black

Nicola is a former HR professional with a Masters in Personnel and Development and over 10 years experience as an HR Business Partner within Financial Services and Higher Education. A mum of 3, Nicola is passionate about children’s mental health and wellbeing, and currently works in primary education.

Mary Edwards

Mary is a highly qualified, professional, committed and passionate music educator with a fundamental belief that music education is for all children. Now retired, Mary has been involved in music education as teacher, advisor and consultant for over 40 years. She is also the author of a number of music education publications.

David Goucher

Dave is Headteacher at Oldfield Park Junior School in Bath and is passionate about ensuring that all children have the very best musical opportunities. By his own admission he may not be the best singer, but he does love to try as the children at OPJS can testify!’
