Our Trustees

The trustees volunteer their time to lead and support Voices for Life.  They are passionate about inspiring children to be happy and confident through music and bring a range of skills and experience to help lead our charity.

Peter Martin (Chair)

Peter Martin, now retired, was a management consultant during his working life and travelled incessantly through the UK and to the Middle East and Europe. His travels made him too unreliable to make binding commitments in the voluntary sector, but since his retirement he has been Chairman of U3A in Bath, Bath Choral Society and is a local Parish Councillor. This is his first appointment to an organisation involved with wellbeing.  Peter is married with two children and grandchildren.

Jo Bird

Jo is Co-Headteacher and safegarding lead at Combe Down Primary School, Bath.

Mary Edwards

Mary is a highly qualified, professional, committed and passionate music educator with a fundamental belief that music education is for all children. Now retired, Mary has been involved in music education as teacher, advisor and consultant for over 40 years. She is also the author of a number of music education publications.

Deborah Hale MBE

Deborah has over 30 years’ experience in stakeholder engagement, campaign development and major events. Her roles have included Director of International Marketing for London and Producer of the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Torch Relays, in charge of what would become one of the UK’s largest public engagement campaigns. She was awarded an MBE in 2013. From London 2012, she moved to Facebook as Marketing Director for Europe, Middle East and Africa. Now an independent consultant, she has worked with numerous commercial and not for profit organisations including the Design Council,  BBC Children in Need, and the Global Goals campaign.

David Goucher (Safeguarding Lead)

Dave is Headteacher at Oldfield Park Junior School in Bath and is passionate about ensuring that all children have the very best musical opportunities. By his own admission he may not be the best singer, but he does love to try as the children at OPJS can testify!
